All My Children alum Eva LaRue is opening up about returning to daytime and joining The Young & The Restless.

In a candid interview with Soaps In Depth, LaRue admitted the day after she learned she booked the role of Celeste Rosales her father died.

“The morning after the soap called, my dad died. That was really tough, but Y&R gave me something else to focus on. It was the perfect distraction. It was just the thing I needed, with the excitement and happiness of tackling this role juxtaposed with the sadness,” the actresses shared with the magazine.

The two-time Daytime Emmy winner drew from her recent loss to play the character of a mom who has a complex relationship with her children. LaRue was pleasantly surprised to see so many familiar faces when she first walked the halls of the CBS studios.

“Producers, writers, directors that I worked with on All My Children. And so many actors! I ran into Thorsten Kaye, who played Zach on AMC is now plays Ridge on The Bold & The Beautiful. Joshua Morrow, who plays Nick and I did a movie together about a year and a half ago. Michelle Stafford, who is just returned as Phyllis and I have been friends forever. Peter Bergman, who plays Jack, and I have been friends for 30 years, and we got to work together for the first time. I felt like I was enveloped in this warm hug!” she exclaimed.

Knowing so many people before filming began helped the actress settled into her new role quickly. LaRue is no stranger to CBS. Although her daytime home network was always ABC, the brunette beauty starred on CSI: Miami for seven seasons.

Since leaving All My Children in 2011, two years before the ABC soap took its final bow, Eva LaRue has been busy hosting CW’s Chicken Soup for the Soul’s Animal Tales.

Now the actress is thrilled to be back in the genre that gave her a long-lasting career. LaRue is also excited to sink her teeth into Celeste, who she feels is a force to be reckoned with and fans couldn’t agree more.

So far, the response to having LaRue on Y&R has been overwhelmingly positive. However, there are rumors speculation her stint on the CBS show is only for a handful of episodes.

LaRue did admit originally the gig was a short-lived but her stay keeps growing. Fans are hopeful she sticks around Genoa City for a long time.
