Are they trying to make Florence Pugh the next Jennifer Lawrence?

This is why stage names were invented. r1, it's better than Imogen Poots. ANYONE'S a welcome replacement for Jennifer Lawrence! My only experience watching Miss Pugh is this Vogue food video from earlier this year. I found her chic and quite charming.

I can see this; she's got that kind of "spunky girl next door" thing, but she's attractive, versatile and seems to have some warmth and personality (minus the attitude).

by Anonymousreply 5December 17, 2020 6:00 PM

Is it better than Irra Petina?

by Anonymousreply 6December 17, 2020 6:03 PM

Bowling ball head. They don't make beauties like Grace Kelly anymore.

by Anonymousreply 7December 17, 2020 6:09 PM

She’s a younger Keira Knightley.

by Anonymousreply 8December 17, 2020 6:27 PM

[quote] I found her chic and quite charming.

^^ Flo's Mom.

Actually i think she comes across as rather masculine and aggressive.

by Anonymousreply 9December 17, 2020 6:33 PM

I really enjoyed her performance in Lady Macbeth. Worth checking out. Regardless of thoughts of Midsommar overall, she was also good

by Anonymousreply 10December 17, 2020 6:38 PM

More like the new Chloe Grace Moretz.

by Anonymousreply 12December 18, 2020 6:04 AM

More like the new Chloe Grace Moretz.

Now that's just mean!

by Anonymousreply 13December 18, 2020 9:13 AM

I don't mind her acting, but everything about her looks is summed up with "squat". She looks chubby no matter how thin she is. Her limbs are too short, her head to pumpkin-like (as R7 said) and she is quite busty (which is fine, but makes her appear even more horizontal). As my best friend often says: "she's puffy in all the wrong places". Whatever you think about Lawrence's acting (I like her), she is the sort of girl that guys lust after - not exactly "model" thin, but just curvy enough while still "sexy" thin. Don't get me wrong, Pugh (terrible last name) is quite pretty. I just don't see Florence making as much of a splash with US audiences who tend to focus a great currency upon sex appeal.

by Anonymousreply 14December 18, 2020 9:30 AM

She would make a great Stevie Nicks

by Anonymousreply 15December 18, 2020 9:34 AM

A cross between Moretz and that dreadful Elle Fanning.

She was good in Midsommae, though!

by Anonymousreply 16December 18, 2020 11:10 AM

She’s not as visually striking as J-Law, but Pugh’s acting chops are a notch higher I think.

by Anonymousreply 17December 18, 2020 11:19 AM

It helps that she was in two acclaimed movies playing very different roles. I think she'll have a solid career unless she goes down a Lohan route

by Anonymousreply 18December 18, 2020 3:59 PM

Florence is taking the roles everyone thought Chloe Moretz would have taken when she got older. Florence kind of reminds me of young Kathy Bates and I don’t know why! The only similarity I can see with Jennifer is they both give off a tomboy vibe

Everyone is modeled after someone else... Zendaya is the new Halle, Saorise Ronan is the new Kate Winslet, Jennifer Lawrence is Julia Roberts meets Samantha Morton, Kristen Stewart is the new Jodie Foster, etc etc etc

by Anonymousreply 19December 22, 2020 9:44 AM

She's too old to be "The Next Jennifer Lawrence".

by Anonymousreply 20December 22, 2020 9:48 AM

Well actually, she DOES remind me a bit of Scarlett Johansson, maybe it’s the voice

by Anonymousreply 21December 22, 2020 9:51 AM

Maybe it's the much older boyfriend thing, but there are obvious comparisons with Kate Winslet.

From a performing family, lots of smaller roles generating chatter before supporting award nomination in a period drama.

Fairly naturalistic acting style, and reasonably unpretentious about it. Both conventionally attractive but not strikingly beautiful, which isn't a bad thing.

by Anonymousreply 22December 22, 2020 9:55 AM

women who protrude their teats like weapons.....funny.

by Anonymousreply 23December 22, 2020 10:23 AM

Saorise Ronan is the new Kate Winslet

don't know about that; in her younger days, Kate oozed beauty & sensuality; Ronan is beautiful, but about as sensual as a plant. She's a bit of chilly one

by Anonymousreply 24December 22, 2020 10:34 AM

Miss Saoirse is another name screaming for a stage name. About 99% of people can't spell or pronounce her name correctly.

by Anonymousreply 25December 22, 2020 11:26 AM

R25 I feel the same way about Mia Wasikowska.

by Anonymousreply 26December 22, 2020 12:05 PM

I hope she and zach barf make mutant babies soon.

by Anonymousreply 27February 9, 2021 9:15 AM

She’s very talented and adorable. Sexy too. But then I’m a straight guy, so there ya go.

by Anonymousreply 28February 9, 2021 9:50 AM

theyr all shallow young posers with no talent. next.....

by Anonymousreply 29February 9, 2021 2:37 PM

She's the top choice to play Madonna in that ill conceived biopic

by Anonymousreply 30February 9, 2021 10:36 PM

R28

[quote]But then I’m a straight guy, so there ya go. WHAT?!

by Anonymousreply 31February 9, 2021 10:37 PM

Weht Mia Wasikowska? I think that execrable Tim Burton version of Alice in wonderland really screwed her career. Actors should avoid working with Burton from now on.

by Anonymousreply 32February 9, 2021 11:08 PM

[quote]Weht Mia Wasikowska?

She literally went from being in everything & being in nothing (though I think she was most recently in some Netfix shitfest movie).

by Anonymousreply 33February 10, 2021 10:03 AM

[Quote] she is quite busty (which is fine, but makes her appear even more horizontal). As my best friend often says: "she's puffy in all the wrong places".

Busty is an example of "puffy in all the wrong places"?

by Anonymousreply 34February 10, 2021 10:07 AM

[Quote] Saorise Ronan is the new Kate Winslet

I think Saoirse has more in common with Jodie Foster...

by Anonymousreply 35February 10, 2021 10:08 AM

I kissed the both of them on screen.

I am so hot.

by Anonymousreply 36February 10, 2021 11:38 AM

R36 and now you get to kiss JLaw.

by Anonymousreply 37February 10, 2021 12:28 PM

I happen to like J. Law a lot, but Pugh is better. She can disappear into her roles in a way Lawrence can't.

by Anonymousreply 38February 10, 2021 12:33 PM

Tim O'Tay kissed Jude Law?

by Anonymousreply 39February 10, 2021 12:57 PM

An actual good actress amazing!

by Anonymousreply 40February 10, 2021 12:59 PM

R19: Nobody becomes the next anything anymore. TimoTay sets up paparazzi shots of himself in the hopes of becoming the next DiCaprio or Johnny Depp but I think the star system ended with Julia Roberts.

by Anonymousreply 41February 10, 2021 1:06 PM

Nah. Cameron Diaz was a true star. She had her flops but she lasted quite a long time.

by Anonymousreply 42February 10, 2021 1:09 PM

Scarlett Johansson is also a star.

by Anonymousreply 43February 10, 2021 1:10 PM

The only thing that could make me go and see that Madonna biopic would be if Florence Pugh played her. Because you know she'd commit.

by Anonymousreply 44February 10, 2021 2:51 PM

She'd grow a little pot belly?

by Anonymousreply 45February 10, 2021 3:28 PM

She has short neck, big head perched atop of square and wide shoulders. Matching short and thick limbs. Very similar build to Emilia Clarke. Florence is listed as 5’4” while Emilia is 5’2”, there are petite actresses with small builds and good proportions but these two Brits aren’t it.

by Anonymousreply 46February 10, 2021 3:39 PM

She looks like she has no neck in these 10 photos.

I hated her in Little Woman. She sounded like a modern housewife screaming directions to poor Lory.

by Anonymousreply 49February 10, 2021 5:03 PM

Florence Pugh is not a good "star" name.

by Anonymousreply 50February 10, 2021 5:09 PM

I LOVED her in Little Women. I think they should do a prequel called Young Amy March where she continues to burn books and terrorise the locals.

by Anonymousreply 51February 10, 2021 5:20 PM

She’s adorable. I think she’d be fun to tickle.

She’s also a very talented actress I first noticed her in some crappy British paranormal movie on Netflix. Everything about it sucked but her — she alone made it worth watching.

by Anonymousreply 52February 10, 2021 5:28 PM

^^^ period after “actress”

by Anonymousreply 53February 10, 2021 5:29 PM

I faintly like her scrappiness and how she’s boldly gone nude, but I don’t get any kind of ‘brilliant’ from her. Maybe somewhat charismatic... Now Saoirse Ronan I don’t understand at all. Her accent slips all the time and she doesn’t seem like any kind of girl I know. And homely?!! She’s just like a bug, annoying little maybe gay girl trying to show off her bright eyes but they’re dead. She has nothing. I don’t get it. Was fine in Little Women, that managed to be a great movie! Lady Bird? I’m from there and she didn’t read local. She’s just odd, not into her at all. Don’t get the Winslet comparison there at ALL.

by Anonymousreply 55February 16, 2021 11:08 AM

Even old lady looking Winslet is doing Saoirse a big favor by boning her. I don’t want to see ammonite cos I don’t want to look at busted lady bird. Don’t even want to look at her. That’s why I watch movies now lol. Whether I want to look at muthafucka or not.

by Anonymousreply 56February 16, 2021 11:12 AM

R3 it gets worse when you include Imogen's middle name: Imogen Gay Poots

by Anonymousreply 57February 16, 2021 11:28 AM

Florence appears with Scarlett in the Black Widow tv series. She *may* be the next BW for the series.

And wasn't Kristen always the next Jodie after, "The Panic Room"?

by Anonymousreply 59February 16, 2021 11:52 AM

She is actually a good actress though

by Anonymousreply 60February 16, 2021 12:06 PM

can't she get a forehead reduction surgery?

by Anonymousreply 61February 16, 2021 12:55 PM

She's fine, but in the Vogue video above, her voice is really abrasive. Droning and scratchy.

by Anonymousreply 63February 16, 2021 5:11 PM

She was actually good in "Fighting With My Family", but I didn't think she & Timmy were at all believable as a couple in Little Women. She looked like she could snap him in half if he so much as said a cross word to her, but that's about him as much as her. She's not quite the beauty that JLaw is, but doesn't seem nearly as insufferable.

by Anonymousreply 64February 16, 2021 7:01 PM

She's a good actress and she's made some smart choices. She also so far has had the sense to not make a spectacle of her personal life or come across as needing attention at all costs. If she can keep up all that momentum, she'll have a long solid career and not flame out so fast the way JLaw did.

by Anonymousreply 65February 16, 2021 9:08 PM

[quote]She’s not as visually striking as J-Law,

Jennifer looks like your average retail store cashier

by Anonymousreply 66February 16, 2021 9:13 PM

Pugh is a good actor and I like her deep voice, but she’s tainted in my mind from the stupid, extremely overrated Midsommar.

by Anonymousreply 67February 16, 2021 9:19 PM

She has potential. I've learned to give most actors 5 years to see if they have any staying power.

by Anonymousreply 68February 16, 2021 9:50 PM

Her name stinks but her performance in Midsommar was highly effective.

by Anonymousreply 69February 16, 2021 10:09 PM

R67, why? Even if you didn't like the film, her performance was still good.

Her maniacal laugh at the end was perfection.

by Anonymousreply 70February 16, 2021 10:14 PM

This woman needs to suspend her stylist. Her two-sided titty tape is showing in the OP photo!

by Anonymousreply 71February 16, 2021 10:23 PM

Jennifer Lawrence and Chloe Grace Moretz had a baby, gave it to a childless couple from England and that baby grew up to be Florence Pugh.

by Anonymousreply 72February 16, 2021 10:28 PM

R66 her face maybe, but very few women have her statuesque figure.

by Anonymousreply 73February 17, 2021 5:30 PM

I finally saw Little Women...I honestly don't get the fuss over the movie or why FP was nominated for an Academy Award. She is a good actress but LW is not her best moment. As a side note, Timmy has no sex appeal at all, but then neither does Ronan. James Norton - sorely underused as boring Meg's long suffering husband - would've been far more interesting as the charismatic Laurie
