Arsenal are now doing their homework on the attacking Fenerbahce wing-back Ferdi Kadioglu in view of a transfer during the January window, HITC Football understands.

The Gunners are in the market for new defensive options this month as Mikel Arteta strives to strengthen their backline. Kadioglu has also now emerged as an option for Arsenal as his offensive attributes appeal to the Emirates Stadium natives to improve their left-hand flank.

A potential move for Kadioglu can offer Arteta further benefits, too, as he can play on both sides of a defence. The 24-year-old has even regularly featured as a more advanced option during his time at the Yellow Canaries. But Fenerbahce have him under contract until 2026.

Arsenal are checking out Fenerbahce defender Ferdi Kadioglu

Fenerbahce last extended Kadioglu’s contract until June 2026 in March 2022, four years on from joining the Super Lig giants. He has since gone on to amass 172 appearances with the Istanbul natives across all competitions. The defender has made 24 of his outings this term.

Kadioglu has been hailed as a ‘quality’ player by former Fenerbahce ace Mehmet Yozgatli, impressing during his stint at the club so far.

He joined Fenerbahce from his academy side NEC Nijmegen back in July 2018 and has been a fixture of their plans since 2019/20. He has further offered 16 goals and 20 assists to date, including two and three this season. Now, Arsenal are showing an interest in his skills.

Arsenal are fighting competition from Chelsea and Liverpool for Jorrel Hato

Arteta is keen for Arsenal to sign a new left-back in January with Fenerbache’s Kadioglu just one of the Gunners’ potential transfer targets. HITC Football also understands that a transfer for AFC Ajax’s Jorrel Hato appeals to the north Londoners and they could swoop this month.

The 17-year-old is also attracting interest from Chelsea, Liverpool and Real Madrid. But Ajax are unlikely to let Hato leave Amsterdam in January. Any transfer for the centre-back – who can play as a left-back – is unlikely until the summer and Ajax hope he signs a new contract.

Arsenal will advance their interest in Hato’s transfer in January if Ajax show a willingness to negotiate a move. But the Gunners are now doing their homework on Kadioglu’s potential availability, as well. He may become a more concrete target if a move for Hato is ruled out.
