Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the most anticipated RPGs of this year. The Larian Studio hit has always been famous among RPG lovers due to several unique aspects of the game. One such aspect is the opportunity to have a pet accompany you on your journey throughout Baldur’s Gate 3.

You can pet a dog and a cub in different stages of the game. The dog, Scratch, will obviously be the cutest being you will come across in the game. Scratch can become your companion by following certain steps. Here is everything you need to do to get Scratch in Baldur’s Gate 3.

How to Get Scratch in BG3

Scratch can be found in the Blighted Village after crossing Druid Grove. After entering the village, you will find Scratch sitting beside his dead master. The poor creature does not know that his master is already dead and is waiting for him to wake up. After coming across Scratch, you will find him very defensive about his master.

To convince the dog, you will have to start interacting with him in a friendly way right from the beginning and make him understand that his master will not wake up. Before interacting with him, you must take the Animal Speaking potion to be able to communicate with the dog. Also, make sure to save your game before approaching him, as you will lose the chance to pet him even if you mistakenly scare him once.

Now, at the beginning of the interaction, you will have to choose between three checks: Intimidation, Perception, and Animal Handling. You can choose any of the ways that you want to pursue the dog. However, make sure to select these dialogues whenever the options appear on your screen:

  • “I don’t think he’s going to wake up.”
  • “Come on; you can travel with me if you like.”
  • “If he doesn’t wake up, follow my scent; I have a camp.”

Now after completing this step, head back to your camp and take some rest. At the end of the day, you will see that Scratch has joined you in the camp as your companion. Interact and play with the dog more and more to increase your bond with him.
