Intuit, the maker of QuickBooks, TurboTax and more, announced hundreds of layoffs Tuesday, worrying some local offices in Eagle.

Intuit CEO Sasan Goodarzi posted a blog announcing 715 layoffs in a big push to become an "AI-driven expert platform." Goodarzi also said that 700 jobs will be opening for workers with skills more aligned to help the company in strategic areas.

A spokesperson said they could not share local numbers in regards to layoffs at the Eagle campus, other than what Goodarzi had written in the blog post.

The layoffs were first reported by Boise Dev.

"Even though these are decisions we need to make for the future of Intuit, I know they come at an incredibly tough time for those who have been impacted," Goodarzi wrote. "It is with a heavy heart that I communicate these changes, and I want to be very clear with everyone how we reached these decisions and what we’re doing to take care of our friends and co-workers who will be leaving the company."

Intuit bought the Eagle-based TSheets for $340 million in 2017.
