Bill Maher defended Harrison Butker, claiming that the Kansas City Chiefs kicker did nothing wrong. Butker is currently undergoing an online trial following his controversial comments during a commencement ceremony at a Catholic institution.

The 28-year-old, who grew up in a conservative Catholic household, drew a picture of a woman, which attracted a lot of flak on social media. Butker highlighted that women have been lied to about their responsibilities and gender roles.

On account of this, Maher pointed out that, considering the time and place, Butker did not say anything other than what the establishment has preached throughout history.

I don't see what the big crime is. I really don't, and I think this is part of the problem people have with the Left. [Is] that lots of people in the country are like this.
Bill Maher said on ‘Real Time with Bill Maher.’

The veteran political satirist narrated one of Butker’s statements from his speech.

Like, he's saying, 'Some of you may go on to lead successful careers, but a lot of you are excited about this other way that everybody used to be.' And, now, can't that just be a choice too?
Bill Maher said

Several women sat holding their graduation degrees when Butker said that finding a job couldn’t be the ultimate goal of their lives. They should never forget the charm and happiness that family and motherhood bring.

Bill Maher slammed Harrison Butker’s critics

Maher has always been a vocal critic of both the Left and the Right. He often calls himself Left-leaning but prefers to avoid any biased comments. He recently backed Aaron Rodgers when he spoke about former NFL player Pat Tillman‘s tragic death while serving in the army.

Maher once again did not hesitate to call out the so-called ‘educated Left’ for the media trial of Harrison Butker.

There's only one way to be a good person, and that's to get an advanced degree from one of those a**hole factories like Harvard.
Bill Maher responded

Butker’s speech was heard in almost every corner of the country, which generated a tsunami of backlash. Even a petition was created, urging the Chiefs to release the placekicker for his derogatory remarks.

Earlier this week, the nuns of the Catholic Benedictine College also spoke out against Butker. They refused to agree with his views and called it narrow-minded Catholicism.

However, Butker received support from Whoopi Goldberg. And since the speech, his Chiefs jersey sale has been on the up, and coincidentally, all the women’s versions have been sold out in several outlets of Fanatics.
