Taylor Swift had a successful first leg of her Eras Tour in North America. The same success was supposed to happen in Brazil as well.

Swift was welcomed with a projection on Brazil’s Christ the Redeemer. It set a new high for the pop star’s arrival anywhere in the world. But everything has now been derailed.

So, has Taylor canceled the Brazil tour completely after the subsequent tragedies?

No, at the time of writing, Taylor Swift hasn’t left Brazil, nor has her Brazil tour been canceled. She had scheduled three shows- November 17, 18, and 19, at the Nilton Santos Stadium in Rio de Janeiro. The postponed show will take place on Monday, November 20, 2023.

Has Taylor Swift Canceled Her Brazil Tour and Left The Country?

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour has been overshadowed by tragedy in Brazil. The first omen was that she had to postpone one Argentina show because of a storm that would have made performing impossible.

But the real tragedy hit when she began the Brazil leg of her tour. 23-year-old Ana Clara Benevides Machado passed away due to cardiac arrest after enduring high temperatures in the stadium for Swift’s November 17, 2023, concert.

After this incident, Swift postponed her Saturday show, citing high temperatures. She stated that the safety of her fans and crew was paramount to her. The region is experiencing a severe heatwave, with Friday’s mercury reaching 105 degrees Fahrenheit.

Taylor Swift had scheduled three shows- November 17, 18, and 19, at the Nilton Santos Stadium in Rio de Janeiro. After this, on November 24, 25, and 26, she will head to the Allianz Parque, São Paulo, for her next stop.

The postponed show will occur on November 20, Monday (via ABC News). To make matters worse, in the early hours of Sunday morning, another Swiftie, 25-year-old Gabriel Santos, was stabbed to death by three attackers at the Copacabana beach.

Amid all this, she and her team (as well as Time For Fun, the organizers) have been receiving endless criticism for not helping the family of Ana Clara Benevides Machado financially. Reportedly, other fans had to band together to support the family with the funeral costs.

Also, she has been accused of trying to distance herself from the situation by not naming Ana Clara directly and instead opting to perform her ballad, “Bigger than the whole sky,” as a tribute

Now, there are questions about whether Swift will complete her Brazil shows. But, at the time of writing, Swift hasn’t left Brazil, nor has there been any official announcement about her canceling the Brazil leg of the Eras Tour.

The show will continue for now, but thankfully, some changes have followed the tragedies. Currently, water kiosks will be located at various access points in the stadium, and ambulances will also be in more significant numbers.

Also, concertgoers can bring their water containers, provided they are not aluminum, thermos, or metal ones. As such, precautions are now being taken to ensure the rest of Swift’s concerts go on safely.

Do you think Taylor Swift should cancel her Brazil tour for the safety of her fans and to ensure no other tragedy happens? Or should she commit to the schedule and complete the concerts as planned?
