Months have gone by since the release of "Five Nights at Freddy's 4" and only the most diligent fans have continued to scour the games for more information about what is in store for the Halloween DLC.

Thanks to a new teaser though, creator Scott Cawthon has the fans once again on edge.

Tonight, a new teaser went live on Scott Cawthon's official website. The teaser, which is titled "In the Dark" when you save the file, features what fans believe is a Nightmare Balloon Boy character. The teaser comes just in time to stir up excitement before the official "Five Nights at Freddy's 4" DLC is released on Oct. 31.

So far, fans are acting much more terrified than usual in response to the new "Five Nights at Freddy's 4" DLC teaser photo.

"Put that thing back where it came from or so help me," said FennekinGamer6151 on Reddit.

Other fans have already done some detective work on the photo, finding that saturating the image yields a message.

"Oh god it says 'hello' in the background. Here's a saturated image as brightening it didn't do much to bring out the text more," said Nightfall395.

Fans can check out said saturated image here.

Back in August, creator Scott Cawthon confirmed that the contents of the "Five Nights at Freddy's" Halloween DLC would be an automatic update that added a cheat menu, challenge menu, and "a twist on a familiar minigame that provides a boost when playing challenge modes." Fans have theorized that this means a new version of the Plush Trap game, but there's always a possibility for Cawthon to surprise fans with more.

Cawthon did however confirm that he would not provide the combination to the locked box that appears after beating "Five Nights at Freddy's 4," so that secret remains a mystery for fans to solve.

Whatever the case may be with the box, it looks like there's definitely something else terrifying lurking "in the dark."
