Hland shares what Van Dijk said after he snapped Liverpool man's finger

Erling Braut Håland has spoken to the media after Norway’s 1-1 draw against the Netherlands last night, where Virgil van Dijk was in action.

The Borussia Dortmund striker managed to get the better of the Dutchman, scoring in the 20th minute after some poor defending from Louis van Gaal’s side.

Håland and Van Dijk were then involved in an incident which left the Liverpool No.4 with a dislocated finger, which the forward commented on.

What did Erling Braut Håland say?

Speaking to TV2, the 21-year-old said: “I actually snapped his finger on him. I do not know how it happened. He just said ‘f***ing hell, you broke my finger.’”

As the Mirror covered, Liverpool’s £75m man could be seen having his finger pushed back in on the sidelines as the game went on.

It must’ve been a painful one for the 30-year-old, who has only recently returned from a long-term knee injury.

Of course, there can be no ill-feeling towards Håland, as it was simply an accident.

Liverpool must keep Virgil van Dijk bubble-wrapped

Presumably, Jürgen Klopp wouldn’t have wanted Van Dijk to go away on international duty.

MORE LIVERPOOL STORIES

The ex-Celtic colossus missed the entirety of last season with the exception of the first few games, after Jordan Pickford damaged his knee.

That incident – and other injuries – completely derailed Liverpool’s season, so Klopp will be praying that nothing else happens to Van Dijk.

Even seeing the centre-back receive treatment for his finger on the sidelines must’ve had the German’s heart in his mouth.

Of course, last season’s situation shouldn’t happen again with Ibrahima Konate now at Anfield, although the Frenchman is no Van Dijk.

It’s imperative that Liverpool keep him fit.

International games are out of Klopp’s hands, but the Reds must manage their No.4 carefully and ensure they remain on top of his knee issue.
