Significance of Hanuman Jayanti

According to Indian mythology, Lord Hanuman was born to Anjana, the wife of Vanaraja Kesari, the Monkey King, when she was cursed by Muni Vishwamitra for disturbing him. Anjana is also said to have worshipped Lord Shiva in order to get free of the curse. Some say she worshipped him and pleaded with him to be a part of the kid in her womb. As a result, Hanuman is thought to be an avatar of Lord Shiva.

King Dasharatha is also said to have done the Putrakameshti yagna ceremony in order to have offspring. After performing the rite, he was given hallowed payasam. However, a kite seized a part of it, and Pawan Deva (the God of Wind) handed Hanuman to Anjana, and Hanuman was born. As a result, Hanuman is often referred to as Pawan Putra Hanuman.

Hanuman, a devotee of Lord Ram, played an important role in the Ramayana during the fight between Ram and Ravana. Hanuman is regarded as a symbol of power and energy, and is revered as a deity who triumphed over all odds.

Devotees chant Hanuman Chalisa and Sundar Kaand on Hanuman Jayanti to worship Hanuman and seek protection and blessing. Devotees also offer food and flowers to Hanuman, which they then distribute as prasad.
