Red Bull Technical Advisor Helmut Marko has provided a surprising update on VCARB/RB reserve driver Liam Lawson‘s future. Lawson impressed many with his performances last season, which has led to negotiations with him ever since.
Liam Lawson filled in for an injured Daniel Ricciardo at the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix. The 22-year-old was vastly competent around the challenging track of Zandvoort and scored points in only his third F1 outing ever.
Helmut Marko earlier claimed that a decision regarding Lawson’s future would be declared around September this year. However, Marko has now declared that the New Zealander will be in one of Red Bull’s (VCARB or Red Bull itself) cars in 2025.

Marko’s statement will come as fulfilling news to the 22-year-old, who has been waiting for a long time. He will now have to sit tight and wait for a concrete decision to be announced by Red Bull in the coming months.

Perez has amassed only 24 points in the last seven races for Red Bull. The 34-year-old will therefore look to improve upon his performances in the upcoming races in order to retain his seat with the team for next year.
