Are you ready for the heat?

A massive dome of high pressure will bake the atmosphere over the western states for the next week and into the weekend. We broke or tied record highs yesterday, see below.

We will see record-high temperatures possible through the weekend. There is a chance of beating our all-time high-temperature record for Boise on Wednesday.

Highs will range between 105 to 109 degrees across the Treasure Valley today. The mountains will see temperatures between 90-95 degrees through the weekend.

An excessive heat warning is in effect from 2 p.m. Tuesday to midnight Thursday. An excessive heat watch continues from late Thursday night through Sunday evening.

If you are going to head out early this morning, your best chance to enjoy a nice walk is before 9 a.m. as temperatures will warm up quickly, hitting triple-digit by 2 p.m.

Wildfire smoke also moves into the region on this southwesterly flow from fires in Northern California.

We are staying well above our average high temperatures throughout the work week. Here is a look at your five-day forecast.

Stay cool and hydrated during this heatwave. Limit your time in the sun and strenuous activity. Check on your neighbors and loved ones to ensure they stay comfortable and safe.
