Hyapatia Lee’s Life and Background
Born Vicki Lynch on November 11, 1960, in Indianapolis to her parents who were only 15. She was raised by her grandmother until she was 9 years old. After her mother married, she went to live with her mother and stepfather but it was for a short while.
She left her mother’s place after her stepfather started abusing her. At the age of 12, she went to live with her father who was a strict Baptist.
During her teenage years, she was in the Disciples of Christ church where she got baptized and went through pastor study classes.
She is a graduate of George Washington High School and also Butler University.
Her Career Lasted for Less Than a Decade
She began to appear in Sweet Young Foxes and Penthouse magazine in 1984 and after she met Bud, they worked together and created the second most expensive pornographic film of their time.
Before she ventured into acting in adult movies, she was previously named Miss Nude Galaxy in 1979 and 1981 becoming the first to ever win the title twice.
Aside from the AVN Hall of Fame induction, Lee was also given the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Free Speech Coalition in 1995.
As a dancer, Hyapatia used to have her own dancing studio where she taught jazz, tap, and ballet. She sang opera and was even a member of the Dance Educators of America and was qualified to teach ballet.
Hyapatia Lee Was Married Twice
1. Bud Lee
The actress was first married in 1980 to Bud Lee, an adult film director and also an AVN Hall of Fame member. His birth name is Cameron Lyndon Bennett but after they married he took her last name. According to reports, it is a Cherokee tradition for the husband to take his wife’s last name.
The pair reportedly bought land in rural southern Indiana where she had once lived. The pair had two children their first son in 1987 and the second in 1990 but the marriage ended in 1993.
Before Bud Lee married the actress, he had been married once already. However, the name of his wife remains a mystery.
Following his divorce from Lee, he married Asia Carrera in February 1995. Asia was also working as an adult film actress at that time. She is famous for her stunning looks and intelligence. She met Bud through a mutual friend.
Just like his marriage with Lee, his third marriage also ended in 2003.
2. Craig Young
Following her divorce, she met and married Craig Young four years after her marriage with Bud ended. She remarried on June 21 1997 after which Craig took the name Shred Lee but it was reportedly against her wish.
After thirteen years of marriage, Lee and Young decided to part ways after their only child together was born in 2001.
In 1997, when Hyapatia had health challenges and needed four blood transfusions, Craig reportedly sent a letter through the fan club saying she had passed. Later on, rumors went around that she faked her death to make more money by selling memorabilia.

During her two marriages, had three children. Although the details about them are scarce, she once shared on her Twitter page that she has three sons and one is bipolar. She added that he lives with her along with his girlfriend and two kids.
She also revealed she has a son named Keenan Bennett while another is Cameron Bennett, these two were born during her first marriage. The two brothers were homeschooled while growing up.
She currently has three grandchildren.

Hyapatia Lee moved on with her life after retiring from acting in adult movies in 1993. She ventured into music and wrote music for several years. She recorded 7-inch single Telephone Man for SRO Records in 1988 and later released two sides of Hyapatia Lee in 1989.
In her later years, she worked as an online columnist for High Times. In 2000, she published an autobiography the Secret Life of Hyapatia Lee and in 2016 she authored Native strength-The First Step on the Path to an Indomitable Life series.
