The song itself expresses how he has an untamed soul. He likes to live life to its very fullest and, as someone who has a very deep connection with this song, I can say that doing so is not always in the interest of one's well-being. He is expressing his eternal gratitude to his love because she is always there for him when things get to crazy for him to handle.

If the music video seems kinda weird, you have to watch the full thing, which is like 8 minutes long. At the beginning, you see a series of clips of a woman praying in spanish and her begging Chesney not to go. It then snaps to a scene where Chesney plays a cop, about to go in on some kind of deal. At the last moment, he thinks of the woman and tells his partner he can't do it and walks away. He walks not 50 feet from the building he was supposed to do the deal in and it explodes with his partner inside. So the video is all about his brush with death and his need to find and thank her.
