Left 4 Dead 2’s next update is entitled The Last Stand, and was announced earlier this year to the thrilled L4D2 community. The update has been created by the community itself, and with the official seal of approval from Valve, it’s now set to become a bonafide new addition to Left 4 Dead 2.

A brand new trailer for the update is officially here, giving fans another look at what’s to come when the new content arrives. Even more excitingly, a release date has finally been revealed.

Left 4 Dead 2’s The Last Stand update launches on Steam, September 24.

Along with the trailer, the developers have explained a little more about what we can expect from The Last Stand, confirming that the add-on will be free of charge and will contain new content as well as bug fixes.

“It is official, this is the new content Left 4 Dead 2 will be receiving,” the developers say of the new trailer. ” – but this is still not all! There will also be 30 new achievements, 2 brand new mutations and a plethora of bug and exploit fixes as well!

“This update is a collaborative effort of 30+ community members working together with Valve over the course of 11 months to create new content for this beloved game, which will be available to all PC players as free DLC.”

According to developer JAiZ, the game update will introduce a brand-new campaign for players to sink their teeth into.

The last time Left 4 Dead 2 received an update was back in 2012, when Valve gave the green light to another L4D2 fan project, officially making it canon. Whether or not this is now going to be how the game will continue to run in the future remains to be seen, but it’s a great way to keep the community happy in lieu of another Left 4 Dead title.
