WEST JORDAN, Utah – Police said a man who fired multiple shots out of a West Jordan home had stabbed another man as many as 18 times just prior to the incident.

Police arrested Ceasar Aguilar, 20, in connection with the stabbing and shooting incident Friday.

Witnesses told police this all started in Magna around 9 a.m. Friday.

Three people including Aguilar were at another friend’s house when a woman said she needed to go home.

Aguilar left the home in a car with another man named Robert and the woman named Jeannie.

“Jeannie stated that Robert and Ceasar were discussing the price of some jewelry Robert was selling when Ceasar stated, ‘I’ll show you what a real gangster is.’” a probable cause statement said.

“Jeannie said Ceasar began acting crazy, pulled out a knife, and stabbed Robert multiple times. Jeannie said Ceasar was seated directly behind Robert in the vehicle and he stabbed Robert in the back, neck, and chest area,” the document said.

Detectives believe that’s when Aguilar got out of the car and ran to a random house where the homeowner yelled for him to leave.

Aguilar ran to another random home. When police arrived there Aguilar started to shoot at them, according to the statement. A SWAT team was called and Aguilar surrendered a short time later.

No one was hurt in the shooting.

The man that was stabbed is now in critical condition.

Officers searched Aguilar and found a knife, the statement said. “The knife, a 9-inch double edge dagger with electrical tape around the handle, appeared to have a dried red substance on it, believed to be blood.”

Investigators then interviewed Aguilar. The document said Aguilar, “admitted he had consumed a large amount of methamphetamine and heroin.”

Aguilar faces 28 total charges including criminal homicide, assault on a peace officer, and felony discharge of a firearm.
