Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered modder has been banned over a controversial anti-LGBTQ+ mod on the website, Nexus Mods.

Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered recently launched on PC and it’s proving already to be a success. However, at the time of writing, it failed to topple the mighty God of War (2018).

Marvel’s Spider-Man has benefited from mods

One of the main benefits of playing games on PC, especially those that are popular ports is the vibrant modding community. It’s certainly a weird and wonderful scene, to say the least. However, despite its vibrancy, it does nurture the occasional bad egg.

Unfortunately, the bad egg in question is one that created a mod for Nexus Mods that replaced the in-game Pride flags in Manhattan with the American flag. Furthermore, the name of the mod was called “Non-Newtonian New York”.

Nexus quickly removed the mod

While Nexus Mods acted swiftly to show that it does not support mods of this nature, as reported by GamingBible, some commenters on the Nexus labelled those upset at the mod’s existence as “hypocrites” and “groomers.” The mod also received nearly 300 downloads during its first 24 hours before being removed.

In response to the mod being removed as well as its creator being banned, a Nexus Mods spokesperson told We Got This Covered, stated that the modder is “no longer welcome” on its platform.

Hidden files in Spider-Man Remastered were discovered

In related Marvel’s Spider-Man news, hidden files were discovered within the PC port that had references to cancelled multiplayer modes. Additionally, references were also discovered that hinted that Sony might release a PlayStation PC launcher with PSN integration.

In our review of Marvel’s Spider-Man, we said: “the game overall looks beautiful, a lot better than it did on PS4, and even PS5 in some regards. It’s easy to forget that PC ports can be difficult to get right, and this game was never originally designed for this platform.

“It’s important for Sony to release more of its titles here, so more people who don’t own a PlayStation console can get the chance to play it.”
