Murder suspect in McDonald's order dispute arrested

HOUSTON (TND) A man accused in the slaying of a Texas lawyer who reportedly intervened in a dispute over a McDonald's order is in police custody. Anthony Martin Landry was arrested, according to Houston police.

A man accused in the slaying of a Texas lawyer who reportedly intervened in a dispute over a McDonald's order is in police custody.

Landry was wanted for the murder of Jeffrey Wayne Limmer. Limmer was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds inside theMcDonald's at8147 Katy Freeway on May 4. The 46-year-old victim was allegedly shot after a verbal disagreement with Landry.

Limmer stepped in during a confrontation between Landry and restaurant employees, according to witnesses who were interviewed by detectives and surveillance footage. Landry entered the restaurant with a brown bag "demanding a refund" from a purchase. Footage showed that Limmer was standing next to Landry as Landry appeared "verbally aggressive." Witnesses told detectives Landry called the employees racial slurs and other vulgar remarks.

Limmer and Landry were seen exchanging words with each other before both walked outside. Limmer was seen in the recording pushing Landry to the ground outside. Cameras captured Limmer shot "multiple times" by Landry after he returned inside.

Landry turned himself in to authorities at a Houston police station six days after he fled the murder scene in a pickup truck.

Detectives learned that Landry lived close by, about a block away, from the the restaurant. In addition to the surveillance video and witness statements, police detectives collected footage from a nearby "flock camera" that captured the pickup truck Landry allegedly got away in about a minute after the shooting.

Limmer died from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso, according to the arrest report.

Police said there was no "incident" when he turned himself in at the Edward A. Thomas building located at 1200 Travis Street on Friday.

The 58-year-old was booked at the Harris County Jail for murder.
