Former Newcastle United winger Hatem Ben Arfa could leave Paris Saint-Germain in the summer transfer window.
Newcastle United fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to urge the club to bring back Hatem Ben Arfa.
Ben Arfa is on the books of French giants Paris Saint-Germain at the moment, but the winger could be out of the Ligue 1 outfit in the summer transfer window.
French publication L’Equipe has quoted the player’s lawyer, Jean-Jacques Bertrand, as saying that PSG have made it clear that the 30-year-old is free to leave.
“PSG made us understand that Hatem is free to leave, but we made them understand he won’t just leave like that,” Bertrand told L’Equipe, as translated by ESPN.
Ben Arfa joined PSG in the summer of 2016 on a two-year contract following his departure from French rivals Nice at the end of the 2015-16 season.
The former Lyon and Marseille star failed to make an impact for Unai Emery’s side last season; he could make only five starts in Ligue 1 and featured only thrice in the Champions League.
The France international is a former Newcastle player, and fans of the Premier League club seem to want him back.
Ben Arfa initially had a loan spell at St. James’ Park from Marseille before signing a permanent contract with the Magpies; the winger left in 2015.
