Swansea City have tonight confirmed on their official website that they have parted ways with manager Paul Clement after Monday’s 3-1 defeat at Everton.

The Swans still sit bottom of the Premier League table, four points adrift of safety after Monday’s loss, which saw the Swans take the lead before capitulating defensively.

After just 11 months in the job, manager Clement has now paid the price with his job, as Swansea desperately look for a boost heading into the busy festive period.

Tony Pulis the head coach

Clement’s departure was only announced tonight, but bookmakers are already pricing up odds for who could replace him in the Liberty Stadium – and here are five of the main names mentioned, as compiled by Oddschecker.

Tony Pulis

The early favourite for the job is Welshman Pulis, who comes in as the 1/3 odds-on favourite tonight. Recently let go by West Bromwich Albion, Pulis is the ideal manager for a relegation battle, but whether Swansea could compromise their ‘Swansea way’ principles for a more pragmatic coach remains to be seen.

Leon Britton

When Swansea sacked Michael Laudrup in 2014, they turned to a player to take the job and guide them to safety in Garry Monk. Now, almost four years on, they could do the same again. Midfielder Leon Britton has been the heartbeat of the Swansea side for nearly 15 years now, and is as short as 3/1 to be promoted into the job for his first taste of managerial football.

Ronald Koeman

Sacked by Everton in October, Koeman’s time in English football has been some what mixed. After two strong years in charge of Southampton, Koeman moved on to Everton and impressed last term, but desperately struggled this season, leading to his exit. The Dutchman may still fancy another crack at the Premier League though, and he is just 5/1 for the Swansea job tonight.

Ryan Giggs

Another Welshman linked with the job is ex-Manchester United coach and caretaker Giggs, who is still waiting for his first jump into management. The 44-year-old is as short as 10/3 for the Swansea job tonight, though whether they would gamble on a rookie manager in such dire circumstances remains to be seen.

Brendan Rodgers

He may be the dream appointment for many Swans fans, but the chances of Rodgers leaving Celtic look remote. Rodgers managed Swansea for two years, taking them to the Premier League and then keeping them up before heading to Liverpool, and he is around 16/1 for the job this evening. Having rebuilt his reputation with Celtic though, he may just have slightly loftier ambitions than a return to Swansea.
