NEWARK, Ohio (AP) — A central Ohio police officer is expected to be released from the hospital after
being shot in an incident that left a suspect with critical injuries.

Newark police said officer Jarrod Conley was shot in the arm Wednesday when he and other officers tried
to arrest 27-year-old Randall Hutchison for allegedly running a counterfeiting operation. The department
said Conley was expected to be released Thursday.

Hutchison remains in critical condition at a Columbus hospital after he was run down by a police SUV
during a confrontation that followed the shooting.

Police Chief Steven Sarver said Hutchison fired the shot that struck Conley as he was running away after
officers stopped his car. He said another officer struck Hutchison with the vehicle because Hutchison
pointed his gun at the officer.
