Chelsea have made their move to sign Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise with a bid of around £39million on the table.

Michael Olise could return to Chelsea after the Blues launched a bid for the Crystal Palace star.

That is according to RMC Sport reporter Fabrice Hawkins over in France, who claims that Chelsea have made their first offer.

Hawkins claims that Chelsea have offered around €45million (£39million) including bonuses.

It’s stated that Olise is ‘seduced’ by the Chelsea project and he has given the green light to a Stamford Bridge move.

Olise picked up a hamstring tear on international duty with the French Under-21’s in June.

The 21-year-old is likely to be out until September but that isn’t stopping Chelsea from making a move.

Michael Olise could return to Chelsea

A move to Stamford Bridge would actually be a return for Olise.

Born in Hammersmith, Olise joined the Chelsea ranks aged just seven before leaving at 14.

Olise moved on to Manchester City and then Reading, becoming a first-team star with the Royals before heading to Palace in 2021.

Olise’s brother Richard – an 18-year-old right back – is actually in the Chelsea ranks right now.

That may make a move to Chelsea even more appealing for Olise, who may sense some unfinished business at Stamford Bridge.

There have been additional claims emerging from Fabrizio Romano this evening.

Romano claims on YouTube that Chelsea are ‘keeping a close eye’ on Olise’s situation at Palace.

The transfer insider claims that Manchester City are in the mix as well though, potentially eyeing Olise to replace Al Ahli-bound Riyad Mahrez.

Romano claims that Olise has a release clause in his contract – considered to be around £35million – but his injury may be a problem.

“From what I’m hearing, Chelsea are keeping a close eye on the situation of Michael Olise at Crystal Palace,” said Romano. “He’s considered a big talent, Chelsea are following the situation and Manchester City are doing the same.”

“We know that Riyad Mahrez is going to Al Ahli, so Man City are looking at many options on the market. Olise is one of the players in the list and appreciated by Manchester City and Chelsea; both clubs are keeping an eye on the player.”

“There is a release clause in his contract at Crystal Palace, this is why he’s a very attracting situation to many clubs, but there is also a problem – that he had an injury a few weeks ago, so all the clubs are waiting to understand how long it takes for Olise to be back on the pitch but the interest is there,” he added.

Chelsea may well be offering over the release clause in order to stagger payments, just as they did for Nicolas Jackson.

That would certainly make sense for Chelsea’s current approach, but it all depends on that injury issue with Olise.
