Multiple fires are burning in the West Central Mountains. Officials declared evacuation notices for a few of these fires.
The Snag Fire is burning in the Boise National Forest. It is the largest of the fires burning in the West Central Mountains. The fire is currently at zero percent containment. The fire is 6,180 acres as of this morning. The Valley County Sheriff's office issued a "ready" evacuation order for those in Warm Lake and the North Shore Lodge. In addition, officials have closed eastbound traffic on the Warm Lake Highway
Fire teams are assessing the Bulldog Fire burning about 8 miles north of Garden Valley. The fire is around 1,493 acres as of this morning's update. The fire is 6% contained. Officials have not assessed an evacuation notice as of yet.
The Dollar Fire was started by lightning on the evening of August 5, 2024, 18 miles northeast of Cascade, ID. The fire is in rural areas and will likely spread north in the North Fork Gold Fork River drainage area. The fire is currently at zero percent containment and is 1,233 acres.
Fire crews are handling the Wolf Creek Fire, which sparked on July 25th.The fire is approximately 5 miles west of Donnelly, ID. The fire is currently at 1,054 acres and is 46 percent contained.
The Bulltrout and Wapiti fires are burning in the Boise Mountains. The Wapiti fire is the larger of the two, burning at 1,705 acres as of this morning. The fire is zero percent contained. The Bulltrout fire is 271 acres at 71 percent containment. Both fires are in very mountainous areas far from the civilian population.
