Apple Crafts

  • Apple Stamping:
    • Cut an apple in half horizontally to create a round shape with a star in the center. Dip the flat surface in paint and stamp it onto paper to create apple-shaped prints. You can use different colors to make a colorful apple orchard.
  • Candle Holder:
    • Hollow out an apple by removing the core and a bit of the flesh. Place a small tea light candle inside. When you light the candle, it will cast a warm, flickering glow through the apple's skin.

  • Apple Bird Feeder:
    • Make a bird feeder by stringing apple slices onto a piece of twine or string. Then hang it outside on a tree branch. Birds will love snacking on the apple!
  • Apple Garland:
    • Slice apples thinly and bake them in the oven until they're slightly dry (you can add cinnamon for a nice scent). Thread them onto a piece of twine or string to create a festive garland.
  • Apple Faces:
    • Follow these directions to make these cool and creepy shrunken apple faces in time for Halloween.

Apple Facts

  • Apple Diversity: Did you know that there are over 7,500 different varieties of apples grown worldwide? Each type has its own unique taste, color, and texture!
  • Floating Apples: Apples can float on water! This is because they are made up of about 25% air, which makes them less dense than water.
  • An Apple a Day: The saying "an apple a day keeps the doctor away" has some truth to it. Apples are rich in fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants that contribute to good health.
  • Apple Origins: Apples can trace their roots back to Kazakhstan in Central Asia. They've been cultivated for thousands of years and have become one of the most popular fruits worldwide.
  • Apple Core Myth: Contrary to popular belief, apple cores are perfectly safe to eat. While the seeds contain a small amount of cyanide, you would need to consume a large number of apple seeds to be affected. It's still best to avoid eating the core, but if you accidentally swallow a seed or two, don't worry!
