The North Pole Experience

Flagstaff, AZ

My family and I had the opportunity to go to Flagstaff over Thanksgiving weekend for one night and created wonderful family memories that we will cherish forever by taking the kids to The Polar Express, The North Pole Experience and Bearizona before heading home.

The North Pole Experience in Flagstaff, not to be confused with The Polar Express in Willams, AZ, will take you on a journey to the North Pole where families have the opportunity to visit Santa’s Workshop!

Arizona has two (2) popular Christmas attractions, The North Pole Experience™ home of Santa’s Workshop located in Flagstaff, Arizona, and the Polar Express train ride in Williams, AZ.

The North Pole Experience(NPX) is a 1 hour and 35 minutes adventure INSIDE Santa’s Magical Workshop.  Voted Arizona’s “Best Holiday Experience for Children” in 2016 by Arizona Foothills magazine, the entire experience is a magical hands-on interactive adventure with Santa, Mrs. Claus and all his elves. The North Pole Experience includes private family time with Santa, cocoa and a special treat in Mrs. Claus’s bakery, a complimentary digital photograph with Santa, and each child with a paid child’s ticket receives a Commemorative Teddy Bear from Santa himself, just like the one the kids build with the elves.

The Polar Express(TM) is a separate attraction in Williams, Arizona where you experience a train ride on The Polar Express™, where the children’s book by Chris Van Allsburg is read.  The train travels to the North Pole village, where Santa boards the train and walks through each train car to say hello to the children.   The Polar Express includes cocoa, a cookie and a bell from Santa.  You stay on the train for the entire trip.   (Photos with Santa may be taken and purchased separately at the depot station).

A Christmas Adventure of a Lifetime, the North Pole Experience(NPX) starts by taking families on a very special NPX bus through the magic portal to Santa’s massive workshop in the middle of the forest.  My daughter, nephew and granddaughter were so excited to board the bus and loved finding a Scout Elf on the rear view mirror!

Once you arrive, Santa’s Workshop is a complete, hands-on experience for children and parents.  Families work side-by-side with the elves, building toys and learning all of Santa’s Workshop secrets.  They receive access to Santa’s main factory floor with soaring toy slides and ceilings, attend Elf University, visit with Mrs. Claus and enjoy cookies and snowman soup in the bakery.  Don’t forget Santa’s mail room, his personal office, and his top-secret “Area 47” Sleigh Hangar, featuring his famous sleigh, mission control center, radar systems and more.  Families end the approx. 1 hour and 35 minute workshop experience with a private family visit with Santa.

A picture is worth a thousand words.  Our 2 ½ year old granddaughter was afraid of Santa on The Polar Express the night before we went to The North Pole Experience.  However, after meeting Santa the next day at The North Pole Experience, she said Santa isn’t scary anymore!  She handed him her letter to read, he visited with her and then they took pictures before he gave her a teddy bear to take home.  I was not at all surprised to learn that the NPX Santa is in the Santa Claus Hall of Fame!  He was wonderful!

NEW for 2017:  All Children with a paid child’s ticket will receive a special commemorative Teddy Bear from Santa himself.   Be sure not to tell the kids, it’s a surprise!

The Little America Hotel in Flagstaff, AZ is the official North Pole Experience (NPX)  Trolley Departure Station.  Just like a scene out of a favorite holiday movie, the Trolley Launch Station is located on Little America’s 500 acres of beautiful private forest, decked out in over a million Christmas lights for the holiday season, making it the perfect backdrop for NPX guests.

Make it a magical Christmas weekend for your family by experiencing both The North Pole Experience and The Polar Express together the same weekend!  They are incredibly different experiences, and must be booked separately.  Plan to ride on The Polar Express in the evening and go to The North Pole Experience the next day if you can only stay one night.  The memories created for our family was priceless!

* Macaroni Kid Rancho Cucamonga was given complimentary tickets by The North Pole Experience to write an article about our experience.  We loved the 1 ½ hour experience
