SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Department of Transportation on Wednesday announced its Top 10 construction projects for 2019.
In total, UDOT has 169 construction projects beginning or currently in progress, with an overall combined value of $2.1 billion.
Here are the Top 10 of those, according to UDOT:
Mountain View Corridor
No. 1 on UDOT’s list is the Mountain View Corridor in Salt Lake County, which will directly connect 4100 South in West Valley City to state Route 201. It will have two lanes in each direction and will include 13 new bridges.
Construction is already underway and is expected to be finished by 2021.
I-15 Express Lanes
Coming in at No. 2, this project will widen I-15 to four lanes in areas of Davis and Weber counties. Once this project is finished, it will be the longest continuous express lane in the nation at 80 miles, according to UDOT.
Construction will begin in May and will wrap up in 2020.
I-15 Northbound
A new collector/distributor ramp system will be added from 9400 South to I-215 in Salt Lake County. It’s UDOT’s No. 3 project.
“(It’s) kind of similar to what we see between 900 South and 2100 South,” UDOT Deputy Director Jason Davis said. “It will allow people to travel parallel to I-15 without having to get on I-15, which is a benefit.”
I-15 Technology Corridor
The No. 4 project is one that most Utahns who regularly commute through Utah County are already aware of.
Now in its second year, the Technology Corridor project is widening I-15 from state Route 92 to Main Street in Lehi and is expanding the freeway to six lanes in both directions.
Portions of this project are already complete, such as the new bridge over I-15 at Triumph Boulevard and new frontage roads east and west of I-15. Completion is set for 2020.
I-15 Southbound
The I-15 widening project is No. 5 on the list, and will add a new lane on the southbound highway from 2100 South to 12300 South. It’s set to be finished in 2020.

US 40
Taking place in Wasatch County, UDOT’s No. 6 project will extend the westbound passing lane on U.S. 40 by five miles near Strawberry Reservoir. It will also repave 18 miles of the highway from Daniel’s Summit to Soldier Creek
To reduce collisions with animals, crews will also be installing a wildlife crossing. This project will wrap up in 2020.
I-80 / SR 36 Bridge Replacements
Tooele County will be seeing several bridge replacements during UDOT’s No. 7 project. The S.R. 36 ramp bridge over I-80 and two I-80 bridges over the railroad tracks near the S.R. 201 junction will all be updated.
The county will have its three new bridges ready to be used in 2020.
Southern Parkway
UDOT’s No. 8 project will extend Washington County’s Southern Parkway from Sand Hollow to state Route 9, bringing the road to 27 miles.
The Southern Parkway will run from I-15 south of St. George to S.R. 9 near Hurricane, and it’s expected to be complete in 2020.
I-15 Exit 16
Also in Washington County, the No. 9 project will rebuild the I-15 interchange at S.R. 9. This includes widening I-15 and S.R. 9 as well as the on- and off-ramps. Construction is underway and will wrap up in autumn.
I-80 Joint Repairs
Finishing the list is No. 10, a bridge maintenance project that will replace bridge joints on locations along I-80 between State Street and 1300 East in Salt Lake County. This project will affect the commute on I-80 beginning later this spring. It will be complete later this summer.
