Some of the unsung heroes are the crew. CBS2 asked co-founder Laurie Spencer to explain their important role in ballooning.

They help the pilots get the balloons ready for flight. Before we fly, they get the equipment out of the trailer. They assemble the baskets. They hook the balloon up to the basket, and they are there during the inflation. We have a person on the crown line, that's the line that goes from the top of the balloon out. The person on the end of that line controls the speed with which the balloon goes up, and then, reversing that, when we take down the balloon, the person on the crown line pulls the balloon over. The ground crew packs up the balloon and puts it away. We could not fly balloons unless we had the volunteers.

As you are out and about at the Spirit of Boise, these people are a wealth of knowledge and more than happy to answer your questions.

They volunteer to make this event happen so thank them as well.
