Cody Rhodes had a mammoth target to accomplish at WWE Night of Champions. That being said, he suffered the unimaginable wrath of Brock Lesnar. Ever since losing against Rhodes at Backlash, The Beast lost his composure. At first, he snubbed Cody out of the World Heavyweight Championship tournament. And then, he challenged the former AEW EVP for a straight-up fight in Jeddah.

This past Monday on Raw, Lesnar ensured Cody’s left arm doesn’t stay intact at all. The Alpha Male first took out Rhodes backstage. Then, despite being banged up real bad, The Prodigal Son decided to confront Brock. After that, the latter caught Rhodes in the Kimura Lock, thus breaking The American Nightmare’s arm in kayfabe. Before closing out Raw, Triple H tried his best to convince Rhodes not to fight at Night of Champions with such physical condition.

However, hellbent on proving his point, a reluctant Cody Rhodes went ahead. He came out with an arm brace tied to his left shoulder. Even after this, he managed to avoid a squash. He almost secured his second consecutive win against Lesnar. However, the 10-time World Champion was prepared this time around. He locked Dusty’s baby boy into his Kimura Lock, but just not for a while.

Instead, Lesnar tightened his grip over Rhodes and decided to hold the position for minutes. After squeezing everything Cody Rhodes had coming into this match, The Beast made his opponent pass out. The referee had no choice but to call for the bell. Just like that, The American Nightmare suffered his second singles loss ever since returning to WWE at WrestleMania last year. You can check Lesnar’s continuous brutality over Cody in the following clip.

What’s next for Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar?

Judging by that painful ending in Jeddah, things are far from over between Rhodes and Lesnar. They’ll likely carry their feud through the summer with a decisive match yet to happen. After defeating Rhodes at Night of Champions, The Beast avenged his Backlash loss. And more so, this victory was needed for Brock.

Doing the basic mathematics, these men will likely collide at SummerSlam to complete their trilogy. Even though Rhodes’ ultimate goal is to finish the story with Roman Reigns, he must overcome the Brock Lesnar challenge. That leaves this upcoming episode of Monday Night Raw an intriguing affair. Fans will get to know what’s next in there for them.
